Senator Clinton and her #1 surrogate, the former Prez, are suggesting that she and Senator Obama would be ideal running mates. That’s interesting.
Is she conceding the nomination to Obama and asking for the job of VP? He is, after all, ahead in votes, delegates, and states won. By any known definition in this universe, that makes him the front runner. Older Voter sees her public request for a job as just a wee bit rude. Kind of puts the guy on the spot.
Note to Senator Clinton: You might as well have asked him during one of the debates, “Do these pants make my butt look big?” How’s he supposed to answer that?
Or is this the greater chutzpah where Clinton pretends to be the front runner and “graciously” offers Obama the consolation prize? I know, I know; it’s chutzpah. I was just trying, once again, to give her the benefit of the doubt.
But to paraphrase a recent Clinton accusation, it’s right out of Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Contract on America playbook. It goes something like this, “Voters aren’t terribly smart, so you can just say something is true (actual truth is irrevelant). Say it often, say it loud, and say it with great conviction. They’ll fall for it.”
Older Voter says, “Yuck.”
Note to Senator Clinton: If you ever toss-and-turn at night wondering what’s Obama’s big appeal, just examine this, your most recent tactic. It’s low and dirty; it’s mean-spirited. It’s old-school, Washington-as-it’s-come-to be. He promises something better.
